A December Wedding to Remember

The final wedding of a fabulous 2010 was at the Lodge at Torrey Pines where I had a great time entertaining Jamie and Cody, as well as their mostly out of town guests. They were so ready to party, that the bride and her bridesmaids were up and on the dance floor before the dinner was completed.

When that happens you know it's going to be a good time.

A big thanks to my "partner in crime" Emily Smiley, who I worked with on this night, as well as a handful in 2010. It was a great year and I look forward to another fun filled year as I continue to create memories through music.

Enjoy this gig video and for a full recap of all the songs I played that night, here is the setlist.

Jamie and Cody's Setlist

This year closed out with a fun December wedding at the Lodge at Torrey Pines. In fact, the party was so hopping that the guests and wedding party could not wait to get on the dance floor ... literally. The four course dinner was interrupted with some impromptu dancing. Once that happened, I knew we were in for something special.

I also particularly enjoyed kicking off the first dance set with Chicken Fried. Here in SoCal, I do not have the opportunity to play much country music, but I do love that Zac Brown Band song and it's perfect to kick of a dance set.

Here's the setlist.

Matt and Heidi's Wedding

I was so touched by Heidi's email, that I thought I better get my heiny in gear, edit and post her and Matt's post gig video. So, here are a few highlights of the their July 31, 2010 party at the Lodge at Torrey Pines in beautiful La Jolla, California. Keep in mind, it's just shot from my SLR. No special lighting or anything, just what I have to work with, while DJ'ing. The ultimate in multi-tasking!

Oh yeah, here's a list of all the awesome songs I played that night.

Heidi and Matt's Setlist

Heidi and Matt put on a gorgeous wedding at the Lodge at Torrey Pines on July 31, 2010. I had a great time MC'ing this event and playing some fun music.

They were one of those couples that I had only spoke to over the phone and met, literally, just moments before the grand entrance. At that moment, Heidi asked, "what song are you playing for our entrance." I explained that I didn't have anything specific, just a nice upbeat instrumental.

When I asked if she wanted something specific, she said, "anything Stevie Wonder." So I cued up Superstition -- which I have always felt is the song perfect for walking and strutting. The kind of song that would be blaring from a ghetto blaster, thrown over someone's shoulder in 1979.

Needless to say, the wedding party rocked the intro. What did I play after that? Check out the setlist below.

Ian and Amy's Spectacular Wedding

Without a doubt, this was one of the most gorgeous events I have ever been a part of. The wedding of Ian and Amy at the Lodge at Torrey Pines was truly another Emily Smiley fine soiree. The picture on the left was taken by Bobby Earle, whom I was excited to work with again (we met for the first time last year at Barry and Julia's wedding at the Hotel del Coronado). Click the photo to enlarge and see the awesomeness.

Bobby has his own blog post showcasing more details (and a goofy shot of me -- my fault not his) of this amazing wedding here.

Platinum Pro did a great job with the uplighting and custom dance floor. I recommend them exclusively for this type of work! The grammy nominated Luis Villgeas Band warmed the crowd with Spanish guitar version of Lady Gaga and other pop hits and then made way for me to play the real stuff. Here's a highlight video I put together ... it's just a little something to tide us over until we get to see Jason Taylor's pro shots!

Also, here is their dance party setlist.

Amy and Ian Wedding Teaser

San Diego wedding photographer Bobby Earle posted a couple of teasers from the wedding I DJ'd this past weekend. I'll write more about my thoughts on this amazing event when Bobby publishes his full post on it later. For now, here is the tease.
