My Favorite Lyric Tuesday
Man in the Mirror, Michael Jackson

With the poignant one year anniversary of MJ's death, I thought it was appropriate to dedicate this weeks MFLT to one of my favorite Jackson songs, Man in the Mirror.

It was hard to pick one particular set of lyrics, because there really isn't anything too profound, each verse tells it like it is. But I love this song so much because of the melody and the climax when the choir starts to sing along. It's an inspiring song with an incredible beat.

And it's these lines that really start to pick up the emotion:

A willow deeply scarred
Somebody's broken heart
And a washed out dream
They follow the pattern of the wind ya' see
'Cause they got no place to be
That's why I'm starting with me

Did you just start tapping your toes?

On the Sunday after Michael passed away, I closed out my gig with this song. It was amazing to see everyone singing along and holding candles in the air that they had grabbed from the tables. It's one of the most memorable moments I have ever experienced as a DJ.

Here's a cover version I found from an episode of The X Factor. I like the acoustic vibe: (If you're reading this on Facebook, be sure to view the original post, since embedded videos do not import into Facebook "Notes.")
